A Huntsville resident with a beautifully unique rammed earth home is asking Kelly for tips on finishing the bathroom:

Kelly says: Your unique rammed earth home lends itself to several options for interior design. You can continue to use natural elements and keep the earthy feel to the space, but you can also add trendy design ideas to bring a modern flair. I love the grey tones in the earth used for the walls and think the subtle blue-grey of the tile and textile chosen in the image works well with it, so I have a few different design options within this colour palette.

For the main floor of the bathroom, you could choose to add a trendy patterned porcelain tile and pair it with a solid lattice or small herringbone tile for the shower floor in either a white or a soft grey. I would keep any wall tile in the shower, linear in shape like a larger subway tile in a neutral colour so that the pattern in the flooring and any exposed wall detail are the focal points. I love the recycled dyed leather that is woven into this durable bath mat and it lends itself well to be paired with either the larger 13 x 13 patterned tile for a flooring option, or the large 12 x 24 striated tile option, both by MSI Surfaces. The patterned Europa Collection brings a trendy, spirited design element into the space while the Eramosa mirrors the linear shades and striations of the layers in your rammed earth walls. Again, if you choose a larger tile with a linear pattern like the 12 x 24 Eramosa for the main bathroom flooring, I would keep the colours solid in the shower to keep the space subtle but mix up shapes of the tile to add some playfulness in the design.

I love the new Preciso Lav Collection by Kalia with it's sleek lines blended with a touch of industrial in the knurling detail on the handle and spout. The contrast of the polished chrome bounces light and the knurling detail brings elegance into the industrial realm by combining material and texture.
